What to Expect at Your Lesson

At every The Mahj Co. lesson, you can expect at least one certified instructor to bring all the supplies you need to play and learn American Mahjong during the lesson. Just prepare to chat, connect, and dive head-first into what will become your newest obsession!

Lesson Offerings

    • Perfect intro for beginners

    • Learn the basics of American Mahjong, including the tiles, National Mah Jongg League card, and rules of the game

    • We'll walk through a full game together so everyone can get comfortable with how it all works

    • 2-hour lesson


    Note: Many groups choose to follow up with a Mahjong 102 lesson within 1-2 weeks of the 101 class, which gives players more guided practice and instructor support as they continue building confidence and improving their game.

    • Quick recap on Mahjong 101 covering tiles, NMJL card and rules

    • Guided play where instructors assist with strategy and rule reminders while you play

    • 2-hour lesson

    • Designed for Beginners with busy schedules - making it easier to learn ​Mahjong without committing to multiple dates

    • Combines our Mahjong 101 and 102 classes into one session

    • Covers all the beginner fundamentals plus additional guided gameplay with instructor support throughout

    • 3-hour lesson

    • Tailored to recent learners or lapsed players who know the basics, but would like additional support from an instructor on strategy and rules while you play

    • 2-hour guided play

Private Group Lessons

Private Mahjong Lessons – In the Comfort of Your Home!

Private group lessons require a minimum of four participants. Two-hour lessons (Mahjong 101, Mahjong 102 and Mahjong Refresher) are priced at $65 per person, and three-hour lessons (Beginner Intensive) are $115 per person.
